What to expect

Panoramic views over the whole of London are all yours when you take a ride on the London Eye, the tallest observation Wheel in Europe, set on the South Bank just across the River Thames from the Palace of Westminster. Your ride, best booked in advance to avoid the long daily queues for tickets, is the perfect way to see for yourself the landmarks of this great city and the tapestry of villages that makes up central London. Trafalgar Square, The Shard skyscraper, Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral - and Buckingham Palace itself: all are part of the view as you take the gentle ride on this unique London attraction.

The London Eye Experience

  • Duration: A single revolution of the wheel takes 30 minutes.
  • Key facts about the wheel: The wheel is 135 metres in diameter and has 32 pods, each of which can hold 25 people.
  • Interactive guides are available inside the pods.
  • London Eye 4D Experience: Either before or after your trip on the wheel, enjoy this screening, which offers breathtaking views of the London skyline.

London Eye Opening Times

  • High season from April to August: every day from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Low season from September to March: every day from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Closed on December 25th
Closes early at 5:30 p.m. on December 24th and at 3:00 p.m. on December 31st

All you need to know

  • E-tickets can be processed instantly. All you need to do is present them on your smartphone.
  • Standard tickets: Head to the London Eye and join the standard queue. Be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes before your chosen time.
  • Fast track tickets: Head to the London Eye and join the Fast track priority queue. Again, be there at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time.

The London Eye has become as much as symbol of London as the Eiffel Tower has of Paris. This elegant, uniquely engineered Ferris Wheel, looking across and over the River Thames towards the tower that houses the Big Ben bell and the Palace of Westminster has been delighting and thrilling visitors since it opened on Millennium Eve, 31 December 1999. The London Eye is Europe's tallest Ferris Wheel and the only one with its capsules on the outside of the wheel, rotating as the wheel goes around. Your view is upwards, outwards, north and south, east and west. The panorama takes in all of London's landmark buildings from The Shard skyscraper and Tower Bridge to Westminster Abbey, the towers of Canary Wharf and the sprawl of the many ancient villages that make up 21st century London.

Long lines for tickets have been a feature of the London Eye since the day it opened, which is why we'd strongly advise that you buy your tickets in advance, to enable you to jump the queue. The London Eye is a one-of-a-kind experience, cantilevered over the river from its anchoring point on the South Bank and designed by visionary architects to offer you the most memorable view over a great city.

Fantasy easy to navigate system.
I like the fact that multiple tickets can be printed on the same page- making you greener than other sites that print a page a ticket
